Johnson will convert the former neighborhood restaurant, bar and entertainment venue, opened in late 2019 by brothers Jamie and Justin Sprowles, into a new Bulldog Taproom location.
Although Johnson did not immediately respond to What Now Charlotte’s request for comment, the Charlotte Business Journal writes the rebranding will take place over the next 45 days.
But Room & Board isn’t going away altogether, Johnson said. Instead, the new Bulldog will feature some of Room & Board’s menu favorites.
In addition to a second location, Johnson is also in the process of relocating Bulldog’s original outpost, at 1434 Winnifred St., to 222 West Blvd., the restaurateur announced last year.
“With change, comes opportunity,” the restaurant announced in an Instagram post last year. “I’m excited to announce we will be moving into the new CENTRO SQUARE building located on the corner of West Boulevard and South Tryon. Bulldog will be the primary tenant on the first floor with 3,901 square feet of indoor space and an outdoor seating area.”
In its new facility, Johnson will brew his own beer, according to the post, using three state-of-the-art brewing systems.
“This new location is just four blocks from our current spot,” Johnson said. “Our main goal is to keep all of our awesome current customers that have made Bulldog the success it is today, and to also make new friends further down the light rail and in lower Wilmore.”
