It’s Poppin! Gourmet Kettle Korn, a popcorn-focused business, is getting ready to expand to Uptown Charlotte at 9009 J.M. Keynes Blvd, Suite 5.
The gourmet popcorn shop started as a cart before moving inside The Market at 7th Street. Now, owner Janelle Doyle is getting ready to open a brick-and-mortar in The Shoppes at University Place, according to Q City Metro. The new location is expected to open in late March 2024 and will allow the company to offer all of its flavors and, more importantly, make all the popcorn in-house. Customers will also be able to sample popcorn flavors before placing an order.
“Anybody who comes to check us out at the Seventh Street Market, they see that our popcorn is already pre-bagged,” Doyle told QCity Metro. “We pop it off-site and then bring it into the market every day. It’s still fresh, but people want to see it made. They want to hear it pop; they want to smell the smells. With the new store being able to pop inside, they’ll be able to get that full kettle corn experience.”
The company’s new storefront is described as a “full popcorn experience,” featuring large popcorn kettles separated by plexiglass for customers to watch their popcorn made fresh from start to finish. Available flavors include Karmel Apple, Fried Chicken, White Chocolate, White Cheddar, Birthday Cake, Lemon Meringue, and more. On top of the various popcorn options, It’s Poppin! Gourmet Kettle Korn will also have funnel cakes.
