Joining the ranks of Knowledge Perk and other esteemed food and beverage tenants, this new scoop shop promises to bring its award-winning homemade ice cream to the heart of Uptown.
Two Scoops Creamery, locally owned and operated by best friends Marques Johnson, Jae Hatchett, and Rich Moyer (also founder and CEO of Hoppin’), has become a beloved fixture in the Charlotte area since its inception in 2016. Known for their vibrant and friendly atmosphere, the trio has expanded their reach to five shops, earning accolades from the Food Network Magazine, Today Show, and OurState Magazine. Their ice cream has also been voted the best in North Carolina.
While the exact timeline for the opening is still up in the air due to some “unexpected details,” Johnson told What Now Charlotte that the plan is to open by late summer 2024.
The Alley at Latta Arcade, a century-old art deco building, holds a significant place in Charlotte’s history. Built in 1914 by developer Edward Latta, it originally housed the offices for his construction company and a shopping arcade. Today, it remains one of the rare early 20th-century commercial buildings still standing in Uptown Charlotte.
