Co-owner James Yoder said they are aiming to open by the end of 2025, though it will depend on construction.

Night Swim Coffee unified the visions of local brands Not Just Coffee, owned by Miracle and James Yoder, and Undercurrent Coffee, owned by Todd and Erin Huber. It launched in 2018 and has since expanded to four locations throughout the Charlotte area in Oakhurst, Bank of America Tower, One Wells Fargo and Optimist Park. It also has a roastery and café on Old Pineville Road.

The coffee brand features specialty coffee beverages such as espresso and lattes as well as roasted coffees that are available for purchase. The food menu offers café items such as avocado toast and sandwiches.

“We have a growing chain, and we’ve gotten pretty stabilized over the last 12 to 16 months,” Yoder said. “The cafés are an important part of our growth plan because we have a roastery that supplies all the coffee to the cafés, and we think Charlotte still has a lot of room for good coffee.”

Queensbridge Collective on the corner of Uptown and South End has been under construction since early 2023. It will be a mixed-use residential complex featuring luxury apartments, retail space and a parking deck. The project, headed up by Riverside Investment & Development Co. and Woodfield Development, will also offer amenities such as fitness centers, meeting rooms and entertainment areas.

Night Swim Coffee will occupy retail space on the ground floor of the 42-story residential building.

“[Coffee shops and cafés] are good anchoring points for any development, which is why we’ve seen this demand for it,” Yoder said. “From our perspective, as long as there’s a demand and we have the ability and the team, we’ll keep on opening locations.”
