The development, spearheaded by Kane Realty, is currently under construction. The bagel shop is slated to open in 2025.
Benchwarmers first opened in 2018 in the Transfer Co. Food Hall in Raleigh. Andrew Cash of Jubala Coffee and Joshua Bellamy and Sam Kirkpatrick of Boulted Bread teamed up to bring the concept to life.
It serves a variety of bagels, cream cheese spreads, sandwiches and coffee beverages. It also features a pizza night menu that changes every week.
“We make great bagels using fresh-milled, pre-fermented heirloom grains, extended fermentation and a wood-fired oven,” the Benchwarmers Bagels website states. “As a team, we are committed to three fundamentals: Do your best. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Enjoy the ride.”
The new space will be larger than the first, clocking in at about 4,000 square feet. The spot will also have patio space.
It is expected to serve the same menu and offer the same concept. However, it is also expected to have extended hours and offer a beverage program of wine, beer and cocktails in addition to coffee, according to Axios Raleigh.
