The concept — called Antagonist — will take over a 1,100 square foot space along with a 1,000-square-foot patio, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The space was formerly home to Campbell’s Greenhouse and Nursery, which shuttered in 2022.
It will serve craft cocktails in the evenings, but it will also serve coffee and empanadas from Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters during the day.
The spot will offer live performances at night, as well as non-alcoholic beverage options and light snacks alongside the cocktail menu. It will encourage a no-cellphone policy and offer private event space, according to the Business Journal.
Mike and Kristin Salzarulo are behind Antagonist. They have some other projects in the works, as well, including a new Protagonist Beer concept at The Alley at Latta Arcade and Tipsy Pickle, which will soon open at Camp North End.
Phi Hoang and Madison Phillips, also veterans in the hospitality industry, are fellow co-founders in Antagonist.
Antagonist is expected to open this coming spring.
