It appears to be eyeing 1404 Central Avenue in the Plaza Midwood area. The filing indicates that Sweetgreen plans to have outdoor dining at the location.
This is not the only Sweetgreen location in the works in the Charlotte market. In September, a spokesperson for the company told What Now Charlotte that there is a location slated for Birkdale Village in Huntersville. That spot will open in 2025.
This location along Central Avenue would be the third in Charlotte. The fast-casual salad brand only has two locations open in North Carolina, with one in Raleigh in addition to the one in Uptown.
Jonathan Neman, Nathaniel Ru and Nicolas Jammet launched the brand in Washington, D.C. in 2007. Now, there are more than 200 locations.
The brand focuses on health and sustainability with a menu centered around salads and bowls.
“Our core values guide our actions and we aim to empower our customers, team members and partners to be a positive force on the food system,” the Sweetgreen website reads. “That’s why we’re building a transparent supply network, why we cook from scratch and why we’re building a community of people who believe in the power of real food.”
As of now, it is unclear when this new location would open. However, it appears to be in the early stages of development.
What Now Charlotte has reached out to Sweetgreen representatives and has yet to hear back as of the time of publication.
