La Tapenade Mediterranean Cafe is managed by HMSHost International, the hospitality brand that also manages a Starbucks and ACC American Cafe in Terminal 1. The change is part of a larger shift in the airport, which includes several restaurant and retail exchanges announced at a meeting of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority.
HMSHost International has multiple proprietary concepts found in airports, including VIT, Bistrot, Pier Zero, Fair Taste and Two Tigers. Puro Gusto is expected to open in about two months in place of the Mediterranean spot.
“Puro Gusto is the concept of contemporary coffee, resulting from the integration between the Italian bar model and the coffee shop of the Anglo-American tradition,” the HMSHost International website states. “It is by all means a modern coffee, bakery and fine food shop thought for a quality break, where a premium coffee offer is accompanied by selected cuisine specialties to be enjoyed in an elegant and engaging setting.”
