However, the post indicated that the owners, sisters Lisa and Linda Nguyen, plan to bring the concept back to the community soon.
“We know that this isn’t the end for Sake in Belmont; rather, it’s an opportunity for change and growth in the burgeoning city,” the Nguyens wrote in the Facebook announcement. “We are currently searching high and low for a prominent, permanent location that will keep Sake Express as a Belmont staple for decades to come.”
In a phone call with What Now Charlotte, Lisa confirmed that the team is actively searching for a new building for Sake Express in the community right now, though she did not provide an opening timeline.
The Japanese restaurant serves items like hibachi, teriyaki and sushi. The Nguyens also have a location in Gastonia, which remains open.
“When our father founded Sake Express, he didn’t just teach us how to cook — he instilled in us the values of hard work, dedication and the pursuit of excellence,” the Sake Express website states. “Today, we carry those values forward, ensuring every meal we serve is fresh, flavorful and prepared with care.”
