This will be the ice cream brand’s first location in North Carolina.

Founders Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill launched Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck in New York City in 2008. Their goal is simple: to make ice cream that makes customers feel good.

“Nowadays, people can spend so much time on what’s ‘healthy,’ they don’t stop to consider what’s healthy. As far as we’re concerned, happiness is healthiness,” the Van Leeuwen website states. “What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that’s okay. It’s good-good, not good-bad.”

The unique flavor offerings include dulce de leche brownie, coffee affogato and lemon poppyseed muffin.

The ice cream chain is also planning to enter the Nashville, Atlanta and Florida markets soon. Currently, there are more than 70 locations across eight states and Washington, D.C.

As of now, the exact opening timelines remains unclear.
