Beat The Bomb, an interactive social video game company, is making its way to Charlotte. While the expansion plans were formally announced in fall 2023, What Now Charlotte has uncovered the previously undisclosed address: 3638 Tryclan Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217. This information was found through a tenant improvement building permit application filed with the City, which calls for a “9,500 SF interior renovation for entertainment facility.”

The Brooklyn-based company, founded by CEO Alex Patterson, last year raised $15 million in a Series B funding round to support its national expansion. Upcoming locations include Philadelphia, Charlotte, Denver, Houston, and more. Philadelphia is set to open first in the Summer of 2024, with the other locations following.

Beat The Bomb offers a unique escape room experience combined with interactive social video games. The Charlotte location will feature the company’s signature 10,000 square foot setup, which includes two main experiences: Mission and Game Bay.

In the Mission experience, teams of 4-6 players don hazmat suits and step into a series of interactive video game rooms to test various skills. Players can choose between a Paint Bomb Mission or Foam Bomb Mission. The challenge culminates in the fifth and final room, where teams must disarm The Bomb before time runs out, or face being blasted.

The Game Bay, on the other hand, offers a more relaxed environment without the suits or blast endings. This arcade lounge features access to food and drinks from The Bomb Bar, a futuristic full-service bar serving signature cocktails, slushies, and casual favorites like nachos, pizzas, sliders, hot dogs, and salads. Each Game Bay is a 150-square-foot, 3-walled gaming zone where players can choose from a variety of shorter interactive social games, including team vs. team and free-for-all formats.

“Beat The Bomb is using real-world video games to reimagine the future of social entertainment,” Patterson said in a press release. “Since 2017, we have turned hi-tech digital rooms, multiplayer games, and incredible special effects endings into one of the most memorable group activities in the world. Over 500,000 friends, families, students, and co-workers have now visited our locations, which have been featured on NBC’s Today Show, ABC, FOX5, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta. This fundraising will allow us to expand to an additional seven cities by mid-2025, on our way to bringing Beat The Bomb to 100 cities and millions of people a year globally by 2030.”
