The Philips Place restaurant closed its doors on July 29th to start renovating and re-designing the space so it will look and feel more cohesive, first reported by Axios Charlotte. The 3,600-square-foot restaurant was divided into three parts: a private dining room, a high-top area, and a low-top area. A representative from the company tells What Now Charlotte that Phillips Bistro and Wine Bar will open in September 2023. Ownership will remain the same.

“From all of us at Bonterra, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you, to all the loyal customers and new friends that stopped by for drinks or a meal over the years,” the Instagram post said. “Brace yourself for a jaw-dropping transformation. We’re temporarily closing our doors for a phenomenal makeover, cooking up an epic new concept that will blow your taste buds away.”

While the location will be the same, customers can expect more shareable plates, making them more affordable and reducing the wine list by half. Plenty of staples from Bonterra’s menu, such as the lobster bites and the filet, will remain on the menu, and there will be more Italian pasta made in-house by head chef Ryan Murphy. The restaurant’s hours will be similar to Bonterra’s, with rumors of a late-night food and cocktail program.
