The company’s newest location is looking to move into the former home of an Animal Healthcare Center in Charlotte, according to a recent permit filing. Franchise owner Matthew Perrault has recently submitted a sketch plan review under Gourmet Subs of Charlotte, LLC, to open a new location near the Westerly Hills Plaza. If approved, the franchisee will redevelop the existing commercial site for a new sandwich shop with a drive-thru window.
Perrault is an experienced franchised owner who has been opening Jimmy John’s throughout the area for nearly a decade. The successful franchisee has opened new locations in Cornelius, Mooresville, Concord, Rosedale, and more. Perrault should have no problem seeing success with this location, considering the only competition nearby is Subway and a few other fast-food restaurants. This will undoubtedly become the area’s best sandwich shop once it passes through permitting and construction.
While the Illinois-based sandwich company announced a dual-drive-thru concept last year, it was recently recognized as a Restaurant Development and Design 2023 award winner for the Best New Prototype for an Existing Concept. The location is designed for digital orders and off-premises dining. The design is a result of the pandemic, similar to how Chipotle introduced the Chipotlane. It’s unclear if the new Charlotte location will feature this new design, but it will have a drive-thru.
