Downtown Winston-Salem is about to welcome a new culinary addition as Bagner & Alexa’s Downtown Café prepares to open its doors on July 1, 2024 at the former Courtside Café location, which recently closed.
Owned and operated by Triad entrepreneur Bagner Olmedo, the café promises to bring a fresh taste of Mexican breakfast cuisine to the heart of the city.
The transition from Courtside to Bagner & Alexa’s will be swift; Olmedo and team didn’t take possession of the space until June 24, the Triad Business Journal (TBJ) is reporting. Making the transition so quickly is due in part to retaining staff members who opted to stay on board despite the change in ownership.
Olmedo on Friday did not immediately respond to What Now Charlotte’s request for comment.
“We are excited to introduce our concept to downtown Winston-Salem,” Olmedo told TBJ. “Our menu will feature traditional Mexican breakfast staples such as huevos con chorizo and breakfast burritos, alongside a lunch menu that honors the legacy of Courtside Café based on community feedback.”
The Olmedo family, seasoned in the Triad restaurant industry with ventures like Shaddai Taqueria #21 and El Rey Del Taco Taqueria, shifts their focus to Bagner & Alexa’s, a brand combining American and Mexican culinary traditions. This move follows successful openings of Bagner & Alexa’s Breakfast & Lunch in Greensboro in 2022 and Bagner & Alexa’s Ice Cream and Café in Kernersville.
With plans for future expansion on the horizon, Olmedo remains committed to maintaining quality across their restaurants. “Our immediate focus is on ensuring the success of our downtown location,” he stated. “If all goes well, we look forward to exploring further opportunities.”
