While Qué Hospitality restaurant group announced the expansion last year, the group has been busy with other projects, specifically the opening of Catalú in the former Eight+Sand space in South End, which is expected to have its grand opening on April 23, according to Axios. The company’s second location of Que Fresa is expected to take up a 2,000-square-foot space in the Duke Energy Plaza at the corner of College Street and East Brooklyn Village Boulevard.

Now that the new Spanish restaurant is wrapping up, construction is set to begin this month, joining several other highly regarded concepts within the plaza, including Albertine, Milkbread, Somi Sushi, and AJ’s Dry Cleaners. These retailers make for an exciting destination in Uptown and emphasize Duke Energy Plaza’s commitment to Charlotte and its communities. There is no exact timeline for the new Que Fresa Uptown, considering construction delays have significantly pushed back the original 2023 opening date, but it will hopefully open before the end of the year.

“We wanted Duke Energy Plaza to be a showcase for diverse, locally owned small businesses,” Donna Council, senior vice president of Corporate Real Estate, Aviation, and Business Services, said last year at the time of the announcement. “Ground-floor retailers like these make for a more vibrant area and help add to the dynamic fabric of uptown Charlotte. Our vision for the Plaza becoming a buzzing destination spot is coming into focus, and I want to thank Susan Clements with Childress Klein for helping find these inspiring tenants. Together, we will deliver even greater value to Charlotte for years to come.”
